Flatspot: the road to sneakerdom...

Sneakers are a big part of my life, without a doubt [I'm currently hoarding them at a rate of knots and I'm seriously considering knocking in a wall in my room to make space for more of the leather bound beauties], I've lended myself to the culture and, follow them as vapidly as I follow my other passions. Listening to the radio today [Radio 2 - thanks Benny], I heard someone announce that they were seriously shocked that some kids spend anything up to £300 a month on trainers... Don't be surprised. That's nothing. I know certain people who spend that on a single pair a week, hell I would if I could. I lend myself to sneakers and embrace them as art forms, so when it comes to getting my fix ,one of the first places I look across the vast expanse of the net is Flatspot. The British skateboarding, apparel and footwear associated company sell brands such as MHI, Stussy, NikeSB and Carhaart, at, not only reasonable prices, but leading ones too.

Check out the blog here and the website here.

Why do you call trainers (a.k.a 'creps') sneakers? Are you secretly American?

Nathan you live 10 minutes from my house, course I'm not a secret fucking yank you idiot! Sneakers are the broad term for them - trainers in America means running shoes, like Nike Tailwinds, in adverse to sneakers which are leisure/luxury, so perhaps I should be asking you why you call sneakers trainers, unless your still rocking them next Oasics or something??

Oasics! LOL.

You wouldn't catch me dead in those, the only people I see wearing those are mostly business types who wear them on their journey to work... how ridiculous is it wearing a suit with a pair of those things?

Anyway, thanks for the explanation of the terminology you use (because I was actually wondering)... but in answer to your question, I call 'sneakers' trainers because I live in London, where we don't use that word.

Well once you leave Leyton you may realise that you are absolutely wrong...

'We' being whom exactly? Please bare in mind that London's a big place - until you've explored the capital, met people that you wouldn't come across in your part of the world and been to places where you wouldn't normally venture [leaving your comfort zone basically] you can't tell me anything about what 'we' do in London.

I used the term sneakers because of the reasons in my previous comment, and honestly I don't care if it's used in London or not, it's the term I want to use. In actuality I use both words to describe creps...

It's really not about rocking a suit and trainers or sneakers [fucking happy now], it really is painful to watch though I think it's a practicality thing - them long pointy Italian things business men wear aint always the most comfortable of foot wear...

Ouch... granted, I may not be as well travelled as you, but I've never heard anyone use the term sneakers regardless of whether they live in Leyton or not. True say I shouldn't have used such a sweeping statement, but don't assume I haven't left Leyton, my comfort zone or met people I wouldn't usually come across 'in my part of the world.'

Agreed on the practically point, however, in my book there is no excuse, it's not like there aren't comfortable shoes out there.

Sorry dude, didn't mean to sound harsh, though this is partially down to my gluttony for any form of debate, and an indignant dislike at being told I'm wrong, but hell I am wrong a lot of the time so I've got to get used to it! I'm just saying that there's a lot of the world out there that you don't see and making sweeping generalizations don't really work in the context of saying 'we' as London.

Course I know you've left Leyton, you go to school in Newbury Park don't you - *insert annoying winky face type thing* - you know it's all love family!

Check out hawkandhunter.com as well.

And guys, get it right please.
From a privately educated, white, middle class, seventeen year old in London, I believe the correct terminology is:

"manz got sum fresh crepz".

Lol, I was waiting for your two pennies worth my dear, where have thou been! Missin' your senseless and brutally honest observations Ms Haynes... Sneakers are sneakers, it's got to be universal! UA is family though, we're allowed to debate the wording of footwear!
